Thoughts and Prayers and Shut Up! Safe Haven Baby Box pushers dismiss adoptee voices; undermine the Adoptee Rights Movement.

These self-righteous arguments ignore and shun adopted people who object to the SHBB  program of controlled newborn abandonment. .SHBB proponents repeatedly say that can’t imagine why–and even ridicule–any adoptee who would have a problem with being stuffed in a box-in-the wall. “Ingratitude” is their watchword.  If anyone actually does hear us –usually  second hand–we are told we are “bitter,”  “don’t understand adoption(!)”  or “anomalies  who had “bad adoptions.”  Of course, we may just be liberals. Arkansas: Bill mandates abortion seekers to call state-run hotline before procedure to discuss alternatives. You know what that means

The Arkansas Legislature just passed a bill–HB 1195 The Every Mom Matters Act–to mandate that women seeking an abortion first call a tax-payer funded hotline to discuss alternatives to abortion with state-appointed  “care agents”. affiliated with “pro-life” agencies.  Well, you know what that will include: adoption, safe havens, and safe haven baby boxes. (1 box is already in the state and a  few more set to go in shortly). Continue Reading →

Not with a Bang! Not with a Whimper! Arizona HB 2070 Gets Ripped While “Activists” Go Quiet

it was amended down. A lot. Instead of unrestricted unsealing, the Committee decided to keep records closed for those born between 1968-2021. That’s well over half of Arizona adoptees who will (if the bill passes) remain sealed and secret, An amendment was also offered but rejected to add a Disclosure Veto. Oh, and another politician is worried about protecting the “DNA rights “ of birthparents.  What’s he want to do? Ban adoptees from owning Ancestry accounts? Perhaps he was channeling Bill Pierce who long ago declared that it should be illegal for adoptees to use phone books to look for first parents. This is the kind of nonsense Class Bastard is subjected to daily by legos and lawmakers. Continue Reading →

What I Found on Parler: Adoption, the Adoption Industry, and Katie Jay, Esq. A Little Adoption History Lesson

But…No Gladney, No Bethany. No Holt. Not that I expected them to be. Parler is the home of adoption bottom feeders and hacks not the “respectable” class.,,,,CHIFF pimps promoted kinship dissolution, the shuttering of group homes and orphanages such as operated by UNICEF and Children’s Village in disadvantaged overseas populations. They created a narrative of false humanitarianism in order to make international adoption “easier” for America’s desperate and childless. Not surprisingly, CHIFF shills rejected all attempts of input by both domestic and international adoptees and other critical stakeholders. Leading the pack was Katie Jay who called us– gasp!– “socialists” while simultaneously promoting state-directed appropriation and redistribution of the other people’s wealth (children) to those they regarded socially and biologically needy but worthy. Those across the adoption landscape who dared to oppose the legislation—or even ask questions—were summarily banned from discussion groups and smeared on blogs and internet forums, mostly by Katie Jay herself. Covid Chaos: New Jersey DCFS Urges Women to Safe Haven Their Babies

It’s been interesting, if not predictable, to watch the mission of Safe Haven laws shift from saving newborns from the occasional psychotic, dissociative, drug-addled, in-denial, or scared parent who they believe would otherwise, discard or murder their newborn without the option of  Safe Haven anonymous abandonment (even if as it turns out those are the parents who don’t use the option*) into a solution for temporary Covid hardship and displacement. American Baby: Join the book launch of Gabrielle Glaser’s adoption blockbuster

A year ago, just before Covid hit, Jeannette Dudley Robnett, Shawna Hodgson, (Texas Adoptee Rights Coalition) and I enjoyed a leisurely lunch with Gabrielle at the Stagecoach Inn in Salado,Texas, where we drank wine and talked adoption (and other things) for a few hours. It was, to put it mildly, a treat to talk to someone who actually thinks adoptee rights activists aren’t creepy ingrates and unicorn killers and our rights are little more than those of a cockoach. I hope our discussion helped. Continue Reading →

Never combine a cat with an apostrophe or Adoption agency makes glaring grammar error

I was an English major. I know the correct use of apostrophes, but my fingers don’t care and insist on hitting that unwanted and extraneous character (the grammatical version of adoptees.) But I almost always catch it when proofing. There is no way I’d publish a misspelled meme or another Bastaradette-made image, or title; and if I did, I’d catch it soon enough and cancel it out at once. (Disclaimer, admittedly it has happened occasionally, but I’m not running a business or shilling for handouts and I am comfortable with snarking myself) Continue Reading →

Gary, Indiana: Stupid Things People Say about Safe Haven Baby Boxes or a Brief Discourse on Cognitive Dissonance

To be kind, Mr. Euvino, who I bet is not adopted, might have been caught up in the moment. To not be kind, he just might be conveniently ignorant. He failed to acknowledge that legal baby dumping is built on loss and tragedy for babies, their biological mothers, fathers, and extended family members. Boxing, he failed to acknowledge, is the erasure of individual identities, histories, and relationships. Box use, he failed to acknowledge, is an endorsement of discredited “clean slate” closed and secret adoption theory-into- practice that taught generations that Class Bastard has no history before adoption#; that we would all be fine with this unless we were neurotic, psychotic, selfish, or otherwise disturbed. This fuckery condemned millions of members of Class Bastard to anonymity, disenfranchisement, confusion, shame, and for many anger depression, therapy, expensive searches, self-harm, and even suicide. I can only assume then that Mr. Euvino aimed his comments, at the mothers and the new families these dumped babies will acquire adoptively on the backs of disempowered bios. Continue Reading →

Bastard Nation Submitted Comments on proposed draft language of The Unregulated Transfers of Adopted Children Act – December 4-5, 2020 discussion

I cannot stress this enough: “sending” and “receiving” parties involved in unregulated rehoming unlike those who have no intention to sever their parental rights but find themselves in need of temporary custody arrangements, do not follow a “child’s-best-interest standard. Neither “sender” nor ”receiver” are well-intentioned. Please stop acting like they are. Adoptive parents who rehome their “forever children” without regard to ethics or law no longer want the parental responsibility they signed up for and were approved for by social workers and courts. Those who receive these inconvenient children utilize the black/gray market do so for “adoption” (note the quotes), sex trade, or servitude. Each party trolls social media, underground networks, Craig’s List, and other advertising sources, seeking matches often with the assistance of paid third parties. Unregulated custody transfer is a nice name for child trafficking. Continue Reading →
