Shut Down the Machine!

Featured

There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious–makes you so sick at heart–that you can’t take part. You can’t even passively take part. And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all….

NAM/NAAM Day 15. Hey Donald! Where’s the Annual NAM/NAAM Presidential Proclamation?

We are halfway through NAM/NAMM and have yet to see the annual NAM/NAM Presidential Proclamation. We’ve gotten one every year for years even during Trump 1. What’s going on?…I’m glad he’s ignoring us. I don’t want the good name of Bastard sullied by his pathetic orange self.  We are messed with enough without his grubby small fingers poking into our business Continue Reading →

NAM/NAAM Day 14. NCFA Mythbook Arrives. Bastard Nation is “Crude,” “Offensive” and “Embarrassing” c 1999

But none of the anti-adoption groups  are as purposefully virulent and proudly radical as the tiny, aggressive , and unfortunately named, “Bastard Nation,” spawned by angry adult adopted adults who found each other on the internet on alt.adoption Continue Reading →

NAM/NAAM Day 13. Trump Signs Executive Order: Fostering the Future for American Children and Families. The Evangelical Inclusion

The EO promises to increase much-needed foster care improvements through taxpayer-funded tax-exempt so-called “faith-based” partnerships with private religious child welfare organizations, churches, and ministries, and to “take actions” of some type (financial?) against individual state government policies/agencies that limit or prohibit “faith-based” groups from participating….IMO, this is a poison pill that will be digested unnoticed, since “faith- based “relationships” in foster care and adoption are common, and the public does not understand the underbelly. NANM/NAAM Day 12: Monica Kelsey and SHBB Inc Gets Drop-Kicked at Hamilton, Ohio Baby Box Opening

Ohio baby abandonment box opponent Chris Hicks did a spectacular job of running SHBB Inc into the ground at the opening of the Hamilton, Ohio, box on Tuesday (November 11). Monica Kelsey, SHBB Inc CEO/founder, went bonkers when he attempted to ask her perfectly reasonable questions, and she shouted for “Security” to get him out of her way. What a wimp!  According to her, asking perfectly reasonable questions is “harassment.” To make it worse, 1 local pol and the fire chief backed her,up, refusing to answer questions, though an amiable State Rep took the questions quite seriously and promised to look into things. NAM/NAAM Day 11: Safe Haven Baby Boxes Post-Dobbs

erified that the information was correct, but it got me digging a little about something I’d not calculated before, and should have: the number of states since Dobbs that passed baby abandonment box legislation and the number of boxes installed. This is what I found. The aggregate is worse than I thought: Continue Reading →

NAM/NAAM Day 10: WooWoo! NCFA Factbook 3 on the Way

Factbook 3 is a historical document that I’m betting the current NCFA would like to bury. It is a stunning record of crackpottery married to adopteephobia and adoption secrets and lies (though it does have a handful of good essays.).  It unintentionally lays out why we are still in the adoption quagmire and names name. Continue Reading →

NAM/NAAM Day 9: National Council for Adoption Gets Hammered

The National Council for Adoption is getting a hammer taken to it on Facebook….Back in that day (again!) NCFA founding president Bill Pierce called BN and our allies socialists, anarchists, and hippies in Birkenstocks He accused us of buying the M58 election in Oregon.  I’m down with all those labels and accusations, but it looks like NCFA has taken the most unPiercian strategy of remaining silent while the Proles throw cowpies in its face. That’s no fun! Continue Reading →

NAM/NAAM Day 7: Here’s an Idea for NAM/NAAM: Stop Killing Adoptees!

Nubia’s murder happened in 2011, and I think it is the worst case of not only adoptee abuse but child abuse that I’ve seen. I am not reposting Moses’ post in its entirety, but here is a preview…The abuse was reported repeatedly to Florida DCS . The department never acted on  on the complaints since according to a Miami-Dade Grand Jury Report ,it doesn’t much delve into reported abuse in foster and adoptive families. Continue Reading →

NAM/NAAM Day 6: Are Safe Haven Baby Boxes Patriotic? Another Meme

Mrs Kelsey says that one of her team came up with meme, not her. Fair enough! But I am sure that it warmed the cockles of her Benedict Bastard heart. In this era of toxic American nationalism, the meme message fits right in: Safe Haven Baby Boxes Inc–and Mrs Kelsey–are patriotic. Sticking your baby in a box-in-a-wall is patriotic. Adoption is patriotic. Continue Reading →
