Barf! and Welcome to National Adoption Month 2026! Day 1

Well, here we go again!

National Adoption Month (NAM) when adoptees stock up on barf bags and bunker in while the multi-billion-dollar Adoption Industry and its incurious media toadies commodify, objectify, fantasize, and fetishize us for public consumption and entertainment. Somewhere along the line, we’ll even get a NAM Presidential Proclamation from Donald Trump written by a Heritage Foundation intern, which I’m sure we will all appreciate. I wonder how many of us are stashed away in the Great Leader’s closet?

The pièce de résistance, however, is November 21, National Adoption Day aka National Adoptee Erasure Day, where hundreds of children will get their names changed and their birth records sealed.

It’s no wonder that those with “good adoptions” have no desire to cherish or celebrate” this month. For those in bad adoptions, it’s a nightmare. But the show must go on!

____________

The theme of this year’s NAM is A Home for Every Child. As in the last few years, it focuses more on support and programs for older children and teens in foster care, rather than blue ribbon HWN Grade A’s freshly popped from Mom , are hard to find and quick to offload for those who can afford it or possess a hefty GoFundMe account.

The Children’s Bureau explains this year’s focus:

…reinforce[ing] the shared commitment to reducing time in care and strengthening efforts to help children find permanent families. Adoption as a permanency goal provides older youth with a sense of belonging, stability, and enduring support as they navigate life milestones, including succeeding in school, pursuing careers, and building healthy, lifelong relationships.

Lasting connections—including those with siblings, relatives, friends, peers, mentors, and others—are critical to permanency. Having strong relationships allows young people to feel loved, accepted, and supported throughout their lives.

A rather strange statement since adoption agencies, professionals, lawyers, do-gooders, forced birthers, and the government have a long history of doing the opposite by creating  and maintaining Class Bastard who except in 16 states have no unrestricted right to our Original Birth Certificates, court records, and other government-generated and held files about ourselves.

I know that NAM depresses and even enrages Class Bastard, but I’ve always believed that it is also a time for us to get to work and let our voice be heard. Post your stories and opinion sand your addoptapolitics on social media, make TikToks, blog, write letters to the editor of your local paper. Find or start an activist group in your town.

____________

As usual I will blog every day in November. It’s a real killer, but I’ve done it for years. I never know what I’ll write. Sometimes  I just stare at the screen and scream.  But something always comes.  Some good and some not so.

Everything that I write will be posted here, and when appropriate, cross posted to Stop Safe Haven Baby Boxes Now! I’ll send out notices on the BN Facebook page and other pages and BlueSky. Spectrum has blocked me from getting into the Bastard Nation page and a couple of others, (it’s not a virus it’s Spectrum, which is worse since it claims it’s for my own good) for a couple of months now, so I haven’t been able to update it. I can’t cross-post there unless I get it fixed. I have tried several times as per Spectrum instructions and it doesn’t work. (Of course!) I’ll try to take some time this month to mess with it. Otherwise, I have to go to the library which is a transportation hassle.

I know I’ll be writing about adoptee rights issues, Safe Haven Baby Boxes, forced birthers/anti-aborts, and probably some TV or movies or books.  And anything else hat comes into my head. I’m a big fan of Beyond the Gates and have a blog half- written in my head about what I think is a good adoption story line about Samantha and Terrell.

So join me. for NAM! Have some fun! Hep me poke the bear.

Shout Shout/Let it all out!
