I recognize the embellishments, I have the exact set in my scrapbooking supplies. I have used them on scrapbooking pages about a grandchild’s hospital stay. I would never use them to do a page about being abandoned at a hospital!
I haven’t weighed in for a while on The Daily Bastardette, but this one strikes a core nerve for me. I know, I know (at least I’d been told, before being banned from adoption.com), all adoptions are different, and my own adoption experience shouldn’t completely color my perception of adoption on the whole.
But, lets see: As an adult bastard, in the vein of Bastard Nation, I have obtained my non-identifying info, and OBC. So I have a somewhat summarized account, via a Social Service case worker’s notes (circa 1976-1977) of the termination of parental rights, leading to adoption.
The core of my story though, seems missing. Relinquishment, and adoption, hadn’t been initially planned for me. I’d been my birth mother’s second child, the first she had given for adoption. Somehow, we come back to a hospital – me, at 5 to 6 *weeks* old, with bi-lateral pneumonia, leading to Foster Care.
So yeah, if you want to pour salt on an old wound…She sure did leave me in the care of the doctors and nurses, due to a life threatening illness, and ultimately, I saw her once more, before she was no longer my mother.
I’m surprised someone hasn’t come up with a congratulations on your abandoned infant line of cards. In my new job I’ve had to deal with an assortment of bizarre (to me) cards including a line of congratulations for passing your driver’s test.

Wow, that’s just crazy, nurses and doctors don’t wear uniforms like that anymore!
