As I suspected he would, Donald Trump (AKA his keepers) finally got around to issuing the traditional National Adoption Month Presidential Proclamation. I found this in he Federal Registry, dated November 17, 2025.
There is nothing special about it. Pretty generic, focusing on the Executive Order on Fostering the Future for American Children and Families that I wrote about earlier this month along with some other horn-blowing on increased adoption benefits for adopters he’s mentored through, such as increased accessibility and expanded tax credits for them. On the upside, I don’t see Stephen Miller’s fingerprints on the paper. No queers, immigration, and abortion. It would have been fun, though, if Trump had promoted international adoption
Adoptee civil rights, as usual, are ignored–but they’ve been ignored by every other president, too.
But…Do we really want the imprimatur of Trump on our foreheads? Hmmm. NO
Here’s my favorite part of the proclamation. Irony is dead:
This month, we recognize the profound truth that all children are a gift from God, worthy of love, care, and family. We honor the parents and families who welcome children into their homes and provide the stability and guidance every young person deserves. Above all, we commit to protecting children, supporting those who care for them, and strengthening the pillar of family across our great Nation.
Thanks goodness NAM/NAAM will be over in 8 days, and we can return to normal aggravation.
