Speaking of birth certificates… I was listening to Alex Jones the other day. His guest was Phil Berg, the godfather of the birther movement. Berg bellowed on about Obama’s birth certificate, this time claiming the president is adopted; therefore, ineligible to be president, since he somehow lost his US citizenship by being “adopted” by his Indonesian stepfather. (And all this time I thought Obama was born in Kenya, and that was the problem!) Berg is more convoluted than healthcare “reform.”
Now, I have no idea what the definition of “adoption”in Indonesia was then, or is now. It’s not like USians are knocking down the doors of Java and Sulawesi to relieve the locals of their baybees–yet. Anyway, adoption is forbidden by Islamic law, so I wonder how Obama could have been adopted. Perhaps Mr. Berg means kafala, a type of guardianship, the only kind of “adoption” permitted under Islamic law. That makes the point moot.
For what it’s worth, here’s my little tete a tete over on Berg’s ObamaCrimes forum with the birthers. Like I said over there, if Berg and his busybodies had their way adoptee lites Bill Clinton and Gerald Ford wouldn’t have been president since their original birth certificates are sealed. What do they want to do about Grover Cleveland, perhaps a citizen of Canada? Erase him from US history?
Berg is holding a Birth Certificate “March” We’re all supposed to send or fax him a copy of our birth certificates that at some unknown date will be presented to Obama with the demand that he resign “because he has failed to produce his long form [vault] Birth Certificate to show he is ‘Constitutionally eligible’ to be President.” (Where the hell was Berg when George Romney was running for president?)
Berg can beg for our birth certificates until Obama 110 years old, but I know 6 million birth certificates Berg won’t be getting. It’s amusing to watch Berg boo-hooing over not being allowed to see a perfect stranger’s birth certificate, when 6 million of us are kept, by laws that he and his ilk support, from seeing our own.
Doesn’t Phil Berg have an ambulance to chase?
I think there is a way to download the show on Jones’ website, but I couldn’t find the segment.
Sounds like Berg is trying to pull off a massive identity theft operation! Signatures aren’t sufficient anymore, he needs birth certificates?
Next up, Berg protests social security while asking people to send them their SSN numbers, and takes on Big DMV with the request that you copy your license for him.
What a bonanza this would be for identity thieves!
Ha! I hadn’t thought of that. Phil Bert: Identity Thief! Love it.
Gee it gets complicated!!Whatever way it goe you Americans need to have your records open and it looks as if it will take time when faced with the opposition you have.Good wishes, great blog.
While I’m definitely among the anti-birthers – I would love to send him a message:
Dear Phil – I would love to send you my original birth certificate with the doctor’s signature but it is illegal under New York State law for me to obtain it. Can you do something about that?
At least I am on the same page as you guys. Thatis EXACTLY what I thought when I read the title. He wants to steal everyones identity and sell it to the highest bidder.
Did anyone REALLY send him their birth certificate? I sure hope not.
What a jerk.
This guy is joking, isn’t he?!!
I can’t imagine anyone would really send their birth certificate to this asshole. The whole birther thing is bizarre. That and the teabaggers. I’d be ashamed to be a sane conservative today. There did uses to be a few, like Barry Goldwater. Fiscal conservatives, yeah, promoted policies I did not agree with, but at least they did not come across as stupid, delusional and insane like the current crop
The problem with Berg’s argument is that he shows a complete ignorance on US law regarding citizenship for minors AND Indonesian Adoption Law at the time.
He claims that Lolo Soetoro adopted Barack Obama, and in doing so Obama lost his US citizenship. The problem is that under the US Nationality Act of 1940 and the US Immigration Act of 1952, a minor US citizen cannot renounce citizenship or have it renounced for them by the parents.
Also, even if an adoption took place (Berg has never offered any credible evidence of such an action taking place) his mother (A US citizen) was married to Lolo Soetoro.
Finally, under Indonesian Law 62:1958, citizen can only be granted to an adopted child below the age of five. Obama was five or six when his mother married Lolo Soetoro, over the age in which he could have been granted Indonesian citizenship.
Oh, and Berg also believes Obama was born in Kenya too.
Best of luck!
Birthers, the way our courts work is that you get a competent lawyer, verifiable facts and present them to a judge, if the facts are real and not half baked lies, then, and only then, do you proceed to trial. The Birthers seem to be having a problem with their so called “facts” that I keep reading about on the internetnt. Let’s face it no one will take you seriously until you guys win a case, but until then, you will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. Keep plucking that chicken.
