Just for fun, I started an adoptee rights thread on my neighborhood Nextdoor social media page yesterday. I should have known better.
I wrote that I hoped that with the Blue expulsion of Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and sex geezer and the 2nd most corrupt politician in the country, Attorney General Ken Paxton from the Texas State House, we can finally get down to serious business to Bastardize the state. We have the votes in the House, which always overwhelmingly passes our bills. We probably have the votes in the Senate, but Sen.Dr. Donna Campbell (R-San Antonio) refuses to clear our bills for hearings, much less a floor vote. Campbell is still there, but I hope/expect she can be worked around next year when our new governor, Gina Hinojosa, takes over. In fact, this evening I learned very informally that work on a new bill has started, though I have no details
I got mostly supportive responses on my post. The most satisfying came from a Gladney adoptee who has a close relationship with her bparents and their families. She mentioned she wanted her OBC, and I was able to give her information on how she can obtain it. Under Texas law, adoptees who know the name of parent(s) that appear on the OBC can receive it . The only break Texas bastards get.
Then there was this guy:

Are you talking about children of illegal people in Texas ? Are you trying to adopt to make some one illegal legal ? Asking for a that is in the United States ?
What the hell?
I’m afraid I responded in a rather idiotic way, just go get him off my back. Bu what does unsealing the OBCs of tens of thousands of adult Texas-born adoptees have to do with adopting “illegal babies.” It’s MAGA-mind.
And then there was this guy:
We would love it for trans women to know how to locate their children put up for adoption.
I’ve never heard of this and don’t even understand what it would be in relation or relative to that would cause issues worth debating. I do think that once someone gives a child up for adoption that signed papers saying they did not want the child, they should not be able to go back in that and cause interference with the adopted parents life. I also don’t think the kids should have the right to see their bio parents, or look them up. They parent gave them away their privacy is important as well. I understand kids wanting to know family history if known medical conditions, and maybe that’s something that can be filled out on paperwork for the adopting parents. So they can pass that info along to the children when they get to an age where kids want to know “did my parents have a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, etc…
